Veg Mondays Why Participate?
For Your Health
Many health organizations like the American Heart Association, the
American Cancer Society & World Health Organization - as well as
many physicians - recommend reducing the consumption of animal protein
and saturated fat (found in meat), in order to reduce your risk of
heart disease, stroke, certain cancers, high blood pressure and obesity.
For the Animals
Going veg one day a week will reduce your consumption of animal
products. It's an easy, and delicious, way to make life better for the
animals.
For Our Environment Every
time you choose alternatives to meat, eggs and dairy products you are
being kind to the planet. You are conserving gallons of fresh water,
reducing greenhouse gases and helping to preserve our land, water and
air.
ONE person eating vegetarian meals for
ONE day saves:
-
260 gallons of fresh water – enough daily water for five people, enough water to completely fill five bathtubs
-
366 ft2 of land (three average-sized bedrooms) which would have been used to grow crops to feed animals
-
9 pounds of CO2 emissions – you really can help climate change with a diet change!
-
30 pounds of animal manure
-
15 pounds of soil from being eroded
